What is a VA?
So you’ve heard the phrase ‘virtual assistant’ or ‘VA’ thrown around every now and then but what actually is a VA? What do we do?
A virtual assistant is an independent contractor or freelancer who provides a number of admin based and technical services to clients while operating outside of the client's office. A virtual assistant usually operates from home but can work from an office if required and agreed.
Virtual assistants are becoming more and more popular as often business owners need work picking up and carrying out quickly, something that isn’t always possible when hiring new employee’s. A virtual assistant is usually tech-savvy, having a wide range of computer skills and a high level of expertise with commonly used software and business programs, meaning less training is required.
One of the best things about a virtual assistant is that they know how to run a business, because they’re running their own. So they have some understanding of how you’re currently feeling and they may well have had some of the problems you’re currently experiencing.
For most business owners, a VA can be very beneficial, from helping with the tasks you hate doing the most to giving you your time back be doing the more menial tasks for you.
So what tasks do you dislike doing the most? Write them down and have a think about which ones you’d be happy to hand over to someone else, and free up your time to work on your business rather than in it.
